Individual Therapy
You don’t even know where to start or why life is going wrong. You’re doing all the things you thought you were supposed to do to be successful—you’re getting good grades, or you’re up for that promotion at work. It’s not working. It’s not enough. The internal pressure is making you want to explode, and the worried thoughts won’t leave you alone. It’s almost impossible to get out of bed and face another day of falling short of others’ and your own expectations, but somehow you make yourself get up in hopes that someday, somehow, it’ll get better.
You might be a parent that’s growing more and more concerned about your teen who is withdrawing from friends, sleeping all the time, and experiencing mood swings that don’t seem like them. You love them and want what’s best, but you’re not sure what “best” is anymore.
I see you; it’s rough. I have completed trainings in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy that will help us work to identify what’s important to you and create a meaningful life that’s worth living even when it gets hard.
Addictions Counseling
The things around you change, but internally it stays the same. The emptiness, the feeling unappreciated, the pain that only goes away when you pick up that substance. It feels like things are hopeless, but you keep trudging along.
Maybe things have recently “hit the fan” in your life, and you’re faced with the choice to figure out this addiction or lose those near and dear to you. Maybe the choice has been made for you, and you’d rather not be doing this at all. Regardless, you’re willing to give it one last try, but you’re not convinced it’ll be different this time.
You don’t have to take this journey alone. I have completed trainings in Motivational Interviewing, EMDR advanced addictions protocols, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for substance use. Together, we will work with you to create a new structure, a new environment, and a you that can own their past, be proud of the present, and look forward to the future.
Trauma Therapy
Single Traumatic Event: Everything was going fine, until that one thing happened. Now, you can’t get through a day without being startled, being thrown back into the moment when it all happened, and your view of the world seems to be much darker than it used to be. It doesn’t have to be this way forever.
Complex Trauma: Your childhood was normal, right?? It seems like all your friends have these happy memories, and you just…don’t remember most of your childhood. The parts you do remember and think are funny stories seem to make other people concerned, so you just stopped talking about it. Loud noises or raised voices seem to make you break down when they’re just an inconvenience for others. Although things have felt extremely hard this far in life, it can change for the better for you too.
Trauma doesn’t have to run your life. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ARC (Attachment, Regulation and Competency). Both of these therapies are used to work with children and adults experiencing trauma symptoms. I am working towards EMDRIA Certification in my EMDR practice and receive regular consultation to ensure you are receiving the best care possible.
